Penn Castle is an absolutely stunning Grade I listed building located in Weymouth, Dorset. John Penn, who was a wealthy businessman and politician, built it in the late 18th century. He was actually the grandson of William Penn, the founder of Pennsylvania.
Penn Castle has had quite a varied history, having been used as a private residence, a hotel, and even a military barracks. During World War II, it was used by the Royal Navy for anti-submarine operations.
But what makes Penn Castle so special today is that it’s a top location for weddings and other special events. I mean, it’s easy to see why. The castle’s architecture is simply elegant, and its location on the waterfront is breathtaking. The castle is just the perfect backdrop for couples to exchange their vows, and the surrounding gardens and grounds offer so many beautiful spots for wedding videography. I especially love capturing shots of the bride and groom arriving by boat or taking in the beautiful sunset over the sea.
As for why I personally love filming at Penn Castle, I think it’s the historical significance of the place, mixed with the stunning scenery, that really draws me in. And there’s just something about the place that speaks to me creatively. All in all, Penn Castle is a truly unique and charming location that captures the magic of a couple’s special day.
