Hi, I'm Simon. I make cinematic wedding films for couples who want their day to look beautiful on screen without spending it performing for a camera. Everyone tells you the day goes by in a blur, and they're right. A wedding video is how you live it all again.
I work discreetly, usually on long lenses, and let the wedding unfold. I won't ask you to repeat a reaction, manufacture a moment or turn the day into a video shoot. The filming is documentary, the cinematic finish comes from the composition, sound, colour and edit.
I've been filming weddings for over a decade, with an award-winning background in film and television. Based in Hampshire, I film regularly across London, the South East, the Cotswolds and throughout the UK, as well as selected weddings abroad. I'm the person you speak to, the person who turns up on the day, and the person who edits your film afterwards. Nothing is ever outsourced.
A wedding is a series of once in a lifetime moments: the first look, the first kiss, the first dance. They're either caught properly or they're gone, and making sure they're caught perfectly is the part of this job I love most.

A Wedding Film That Feels Like Your Wedding
After a while, wedding films can start to look the same: rings, flowers, staged walks and everything slowed down until the day loses its energy. I don’t think cinematic has to mean manufactured.
My approach is reportage. I watch, anticipate and film what actually happens. The cinematic quality comes from how I frame the day, record the sound, use movement and build the film afterwards-not from directing you through a list of shots.
Most of my filming is handheld, but the camera only moves when something in the day is moving. That matters more than it sounds. Your eyes don't wobble as you walk across a room, so a frame that sways and rocks does one thing above all else: it reminds you that there was a camera there, and someone holding it. The moment you notice the camera, you're watching a video of your wedding rather than reliving your wedding. I keep the movement invisible so that nothing sits between you and the day itself.
That means the finished film keeps the pace, humour, nerves, noise and atmosphere of your wedding. It should feel polished, but it should still feel unmistakably like your day.
I film in 4K and use dedicated professional audio equipment for the ceremony and speeches, because the voices, laughter and reactions are just as important as the pictures.

Discreet and Unobtrusive Wedding Videography
A lot of couples worry about feeling self-conscious on camera. It is one of the most common things people mention when they first get in touch.
I use compact professional cameras and favour long lenses wherever possible. That means I can capture expressions, conversations and reactions from across the room instead of standing beside you. Your guests won’t feel as though they are on a film set, and neither will you.
For the ceremony and speeches, I set any extra cameras quietly in place before things begin, so you get complete coverage without a room full of operators. Most guests never notice them at all.
The moments I value most are usually the ones nobody realised I had seen: a quiet word before the ceremony, somebody trying not to cry, a joke shared at the table, or the energy of the dance floor once everyone has forgotten about the cameras.
The aim is simple: you should be able to enjoy your wedding without thinking about the filming, then later wonder how I managed to capture so much.

Who actually films our wedding?
I do - every wedding is filmed, edited, colour-graded and sound-mixed by me personally. When you book Wedding Film Studio, you book me, not a rota of camera operators.
Do you travel outside London and Hampshire?
Yes. I'm based in Hampshire and film regularly across London, the South East, the Cotswolds and the whole of the UK, plus selected weddings abroad.
Will my film have that swaying, rocking camera look?
No. It's a trend at the moment, and it will date, but the bigger problem is what it does to you as a viewer.
Your eyes don't move like that. When a frame sways and drifts, it tells you there's a camera in the room and a person operating it, and that puts you on the outside looking in. Careful framing does the opposite. It lets you feel as though you're standing there watching it happen.
I film handheld, but the camera stays smooth unless there's a reason for movement. The energy in the film should come from your wedding, not from the person holding the camera shaking it side to side.
Will we feel self-conscious on camera?
It's the most common worry couples mention, and it's what my whole approach is built around. I film on long lenses from a distance and never direct you through staged moments - most couples tell me afterwards they barely noticed the filming.
